Our involvement with RUBIO
At RUBIO, we at Exipnos are responsible for the field of work in which we have been a world leader for many years: compounding. We ensure that the bio-based raw materials produced by project partners are turned into tailor-made PBS plastics that processors can use to manufacture their desired products and that recyclers and composters can also work in accordance with standards. For example, to produce a bioplastics film, the compound has to meet completely different requirements than if a shampoo bottle or a vehicle part is to be produced. We ensure an optimum balance between parameters such as impact strength and stiffness, flowability and melting point, elongation at break and strength through the perfect mixture, cleverly selected additives and gentle processing. We use a technology that was developed in-house: Direct Compounding Injection Molding (DCIM). This process combines compounding and injection molding and eliminates the need for numerous time-consuming, costly and energy-intensive intermediate steps. This enables us to modify the plastic melt during injection molding. Test processes that would otherwise take weeks can now be completed in just a few days or even hours. Exipnos Managing Director Peter Putsch is one of the initiators of RUBIO. He is the third generation of his family to run the company, which is based in Merseburg (Saxony-Anhalt) and has roots dating back to 1923.
